A Well-Tanned Mount Should Out-Live the Hunter!
We use professional tanneries at T.R.T. The process of tanning uses an acid based soaking that changes raw skin into what we know as leather. Oils and other additives are used to make the skin soft and subtle. We are able to tan hides and pelts the same way the tanneries process skins, but the cost and workload are prohibitive. Therefore, the vast majority of the skins we receive are sent out for professional service.
Tanning and skinning
Dry tanning or wet tanning available. Tan your backskins for use as decorations or make pillows or other uses. Traditional Tanning services can take as long as 6 months to process at professional tanneries. We take no responsibilty for lost or damaged skins beyond our control as skins are processed by a third party.
Rush tanning is available at a 100% additional cost which cuts the time to about1/3. Not all skins will tan out properly due to poor field care or a blemish in the actual skin. We will skin whole small animals only for a skinning fee. Large animals must be skinned before bringing to us.
